With this experiment, my students have discovered how can humans breathe: we can't control our lungs, but we can control our diaphragm (because it's a muscle!!).

  1. When we breathe in, our diaphragm moves down, so our lungs fill with air.

  2. When we breathe out, our diaphragm moves up, so our lungs exhaled air.
