Plants that have flowers reproduce from seeds. But, how are seeds produced? Seeds are produced inside fruits; and fruits are produced in the female reproductive organs.

Let's have a look at flowers reproductive organs.

In flowers you can find both, male and female reproductive organs.

The male reproductive organs are the stamens and the female reproductive organs are the carpels.

THE STAMENS

The stamens are the male reproductive organs. The stamens produce pollen that will pollinate the ovules.

THE CARPEL

The carpel is the female reproductive organ of plants. It has got two parts: the stigma and the ovary.

  • The stigma is similar to a hole. The main function of the stigma is to collect pollen.

  • The ovary contains the ovules. With pollination, the ovules will transform into fruits that will contain seeds.
